Strawberry Celebration

Last week was Strawberry Celebration, as you’ve probably noticed on our Instagram (@hipdfarmersmarket) and I wanted to share some recipes that are all about strawberries!

I bought fresh strawberries at the market from Oak Grove Farms to show you these recipes, and how easy they are! Plus, I bought some fudge at Sweenky Sweets to share for those days when you don’t want to make anything, but still want something delicious and handmade.

By far my favorite thing that I made was the Strawberry Lemon Smoothie. This was so easy to make and I'm pretty sure the glass lasted about a minute after I got done snapping some photos.

This smoothie was the perfect balance between sweet and tart. It’s so perfect for that summer barbecue style of chilling out. So grab a blender, grab the ingredients from the link below, and enjoy!

So I'm going to be honest with all of you. I made a brownie that I thought was going to be the best dessert "pizza" ever. Actually, I should say that I TRIED to make a brownie with cream cheese frosting and strawberries layered on top. See? Sounds delicious, right? Mine was a flop because I'm no pastry chef, but if you're feeling as froggy as I was, I encourage you to try to make one of your own!

All you need is a box of brownie mix, some cream cheese frosting (I have 2 recipes below), some strawberries, and an afternoon! I've included a vegan cream cheese frosting recipe because I'm lactose intolerant (not that it really stops me sometimes), and another simple recipe.

Last, but not least, I also got some Strawberry Lemon Fudge from Sweenky Sweets. I'll go ahead and tell on myself that I ate about half the bar before getting to take pictures, and I'm not sorry about it. It just melts in your mouth and tastes like you should be hanging out by a pool. It could also be the best party favor for a baby shower, bridal shower, or a birthday gift!

At the end of the day, if you just don't feel like making anything, just enjoy some strawberries on their own. They're so delicious and you can find them at a few different vendors at the Hip Donelson Farmer's Market.

This Friday is National Wine Day, so check back here for a few wine and cheese pairings! By cheese, I mean locally made cheeses and cheesecakes. You'll be able to grab the cheeses or cheesecakes from the HipDFM and then head over to your local grocery for the wine. Then just grab some friends and hang out, or just have fun trying out the pairings on your own!

Remember to tag #HipDFM and #MarketAtTheMansion all season and find me walking around at the market on Fridays to be on our Instagram story!
